Only after several years of driving down the same road and visiting the Morikami Japanese Gardens in Boca Raton/Delray Beach did I realize the century-old connection between Japan and South Florida; I mean one of the road’s name was “Yamato” for god-sakes.
Dedicated and built upon a pioneering but ultimately failed Japanese farming colony initially started to revolutionize agriculture in Florida, the Morikami Gardens are a small but potent testament to Japanese art and culture.
